Angola. PAN hopes the result will contribute to greater democracy and fight corruption

The PAN spokeswoman said on Monday that she hopes that the result of the elections in Angola, which the MPLA won with 51% of the vote, it can contribute to a more democratic country and to the fight against corruption and social disparities.

In a note sent to the Lusa agency, Inês Sousa Real expresses the hope that the result of Wednesday’s elections “can contribute to a more democratic Angola that combats corruption and social disparities, that is, the structural poverty that plagues the country”.

The leader and sole deputy of People-Animals-Nature also highlights the importance of that country “the necessary path at the level of human rightsawareness of environmental problems and animal protection”.

Lamenting “the shadow that persists over the regularity of the entire electoral act in Angola”, Inês Sousa Real points out that “this electoral result was only possible due to the beginning of a democratization process”.

The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) won the elections in Angola with 51% of the vote against 44% for UNITA, according to the final results announced on Monday by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

According to the final results presented at the CNE headquarters by the body’s president, Manuel Pereira da Silva, 44.82% of the 14.4 million voters voted, with 1.67% white votes and 1.15 % of invalid votes.

The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) obtained 3,209,429 votes, or 51.17%, electing 124 deputies, and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) obtained 2,756,786 votes, guaranteeing 90 deputies. , with 43.95% of the total.

The CNE plenary thus proclaimed the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, head of the MPLA list, the party with the most votes and Vice President, Esperança da Costa, second on the MPLA list.
