PSD wants to know reasons for the failure of the goals of the strategy for the inclusion of people with disabilities

The PSD questioned the government on Thursday about the reasons for what it describes as a “generalized non-compliance” with the National Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, asking it to explain how it will be implemented.

In a question directed through the Assembly of the Republic, the Social Democrats asked the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, about “the reasons for the widespread non-compliance” with this strategy and what the Government is doing”. to overcome verified failures and non-compliances”.

According to Wednesday’s edition of Jornal de Notícias, the National Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities did not meet almost all the goals set for 2021.

The Government’s strategy foresaw the creation of 30 alliances with municipalities to eliminate architectural barriers in public space, guides for the prevention of violence and diagnoses on the employability of citizens with disabilities.

The newspaper also says that the Commission on Policies for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, headed by Secretary of State Ana Sofía Antunes, has not yet met this year.

The strategy entered into force on September 1 of last year and has 170 specific measures to be implemented by 2025, of which around 70 should have been completed or started in 2021.

In the question addressed to Ana Mendes Godinho, the bench led by Joaquim Miranda Sarmento wants to know when the executive will program and implement the delayed strategy and how the protection will minimize the unemployment rate of people with disabilities, “which today is the highest since Recorded.
