António Trigueiros de Aragão, husband of Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion, joined a Chinese businessman convicted of active corruption. The news was advanced this Thursday by Page One. Expresso also reports on the subject this Friday.
The information collected indicates that a company created by Ana Abrunhosa’s husband will have benefited last year from 133 thousand euros of state support, despite the fact that one of the company’s partners was convicted shortly before for active corruption.
Thermalvet, as the company is called, was established on October 15, 2020, focused on the “design and development of products for veterinary use with thermal water”. The company would be formed by António Trigueiros de Aragão and his father, Diogo Trigueiros de Aragão, who owned 80% of the company’s share capital. The remaining percentage belonged to the company of Zhu Xiadong, a Chinese businessman who was convicted in June 2020.
At that time, the Lisbon Court of Appeal sentenced the businessman to three years and five months in prison, with a suspended sentence, for active corruption in the Golden Visa process. The businessman was convicted of bribing António Figueiredo, former president of the Institute of Registries and Notaries (IRN).
This Wednesday, El Observador announced that two companies owned by the husband of Minister Ana Abrunhosa benefited from hundreds of thousands of euros in community funds.
