According to the final results, the FdI won Sunday’s elections with 26% of the vote, and the coalition it leads, along with Matteo Salvini’s far-right League and Silvio Berlusconi’s Força Italia, won a clear majority in parliament.
Salvini’s League obtained 8.8% of the vote (compared to 13% in 2018), and Forza Italia, owned by former Prime Minister Berlusconi, 8.1% (14% in 2018), according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior. Interior, quoted by the French news agency AFP.
The coalition of these three parties and a smaller formation with less than 1% obtained 43.8% of the votes.
These results of the right-wing and far-right coalition led by Meloni translate into 237 of the 400 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and 115 of the 200 seats in the Senate.
The center-left Democratic Party (PD) was the second most voted, with 19% of the votes in the early legislative elections.
Together with his green and leftist allies, he will occupy 84 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 44 in the Senate.
The 5 Star Movement obtained 15.4% of the votes, which earned it 52 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 28 in the Senate.
The centrist Ação alliance obtained 7.8% of the vote and will occupy 21 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and nine in the Senate.
The remaining seats will be distributed among the smaller parties.
