Coins: “The Government is not ashamed to say everything and quite the opposite. It is light populism”

carlos Coins, drink two. After having completed the first year of his term in an act in Príncipe Real, the mayor of Lisbon was invited to join the dinner of Social Democratic deputies and spared no criticism of António Costa and other colleagues: “They represent a type of socialism that has no shame say everything and its opposite. it’s populism light“.

Always highly applauded by the deputies, who met throughout the day in the Assembly of the Republic for the first parliamentary days of the Montenegrin era, Moedas assured that, in the conversations he has with the Lisbon people, he feels the same “tiredness”. that gave him victory in 2021. “The people of Lisbon feel the stagnationlack of ambition and desire to change”, the mayor began, before accusing António Costa of “lack of leadership”.

“Leadership is not just speak. It’s not just having to say nice things. It is not about selling a product”, continues Moedas, before giving two great examples: the decisions made on the new airport and the way in which the TAP file has been managed.

Regarding the first case, the mayor was emphatic: “The Government did not absolutely decide anything. And there is no excuse. It is a decision that the government has to make,” Moedas said, praising Montenegro’s role in unblocking and claiming, once again, a place at the negotiating table.

The mayor of the capital then focused on the issue of the airline, targeting Pedro Nuno Santos in particular, the man who wanted to shake the legs of the German bankers and who, if he previously put his hand to his chest defending the nationalization of TAP now makes the same effort to defend privatization. “This is a total bewilderment. But do people understand this?” Coins protested.

In the run-up to the vote on the State Budget for 2023, the mayor of Lisbon also lamented the lack of support from the Socialist Executive in the area of the decentralization process. “We can not have half gas decentralization. We don’t want that. The PSD wants serious decentralization, with the means and resources to do so. Our mayors are not workers of this government.”

Among so many and repeated compliments to Montenegro (“Luís, we want to follow you. Because you do, you anticipate, you propose”), Moedas left one certainty: “Don’t count on me to say what the Government wants to hear. I’m here to be a nuisance. I will be, whenever necessary, a uncomfortable to the government”.

The coins bury the PSD’s claims to the throne. “What the country needs is to have Montenegro as prime minister”
