Hundreds of nurses and clinical secretaries of some Family Health Units (USF) in the North region have not yet received part of the incentive that corresponds to them from the State, regarding the 2021 performance evaluation – and that should have been paid in March of this year. There are more than 2.5 million in everything that the North Regional Health Administration (ARS) owes to these professionals, reveals Jornal de Notícias in this Monday’s edition.
The prize in question corresponds to 300 euros per month, which is added to the base salary and is paid if the nurses have met the objectives contracted in the previous year. Most of these health professionals, however, have only received the equivalent of 150 euros. This despite the fact that the law establishes that these bonuses must be paid in full as of April of each year, when the performance evaluation is completed.
“Each USF has, on average, six nurses and each of them has to pay 150 euros (50%) for 11 months,” said JN Diogo Urjais, vice president of the USF National Association, who has already asked the ministry for clarification of the Health. In practice, it is estimated that there are 1.75 million debts with nurses in the North, to which are added the amounts owed to clinical secretaries, thus reaching 2.53 million.
The situation does not affect doctors and occurs in the USF in several areas of the country, but it is particularly serious in the North region. According to an ARS source, “it is foreseeable that the situation will normalize by the end of the year.”
