The candidate for the leadership of the Liberal Initiative Rui Rocha presents a list to the executive committee with “expanded territorial representation” and new portfoliosincluding those devoted to European and regional policy with a view to preparing for the next elections.
In declarations to the Lusa agency, Rui Rocha advanced some of the novelties in the organization of the executive committee that he proposes in the next internal elections of IL, whose presentation of the team is scheduled for next Saturday, in Lisbon.
The IL presidential candidate wants to make some changes and proposes the creation of “a set of departments to make the party stronger, more agile, faster and with more impact.”

According to Rui Rocha, it will even create a talent portfolio, one for internal communication and another to “ensure the link between parliament and the national and local bodies of the partyso that the information flows, so that the nuclei can participate in the formation of decisions in parliament and that they can also be informed of the decisions made in parliament”.
“And a new dimension for what was the studies office, which was an important area in the party and with an important contribution, but now we want to resize and work in an even more effective way, creating an area of research and political knowledge that it will have a space for reflection and knowledge on major issues”, he explained.
In addition to this attribution of portfolios to each member of the executive committee, according to the Liberal, his management will have a “strengthening of powers.”

For Rui Rocha, this “expanded territorial representation” in the leadership translates the “vision of a party that grows throughout the territory.”
“There will be a clear definition of the responsibilities of each of the members of the executive committee and what we expect from the contribution of each of these members,” he said.
After the surprise announcement of early elections in IL and before which the current leader João Cotrim Figueiredo will not run for re-election, Rui Rocha and Carla Castro, both deputies and from the executive committee, are the two names now competing for the electoral dispute which will take place at the elective convention in January next year in Lisbon.
