The contract for the teams that made it to the 1/8 finals of the Copa Libertadores was signed with the qualification of Libertad from Paraguay, Atlético Paranaense from Brazil, Boca Junior from Argentina and Corinthians from Brazil.
Atlético Paranaense beat Venezuelan side Caracas 5-1 in the sixth and final round of the group stage, while Libertad ended the group stage with a massive 4-1 win over the Strongest of Bolivia.
Corinthians drew 1-1 with Bolivian club Always Reddy at the end of the group stage, while Boca Juniors beat Colombia’s Deportivo Cali 1-0.
The draw is scheduled for tomorrow, where the clubs that will become leaders of the first level groups will be: Palmeiras (Group A), Libertad (Group B), Estudiantes La Plata (Argentina) (Group C), Atlético Mineiro (Argentina). Brazil (Group D) and Argentina’s Boca Juniors (Group E), as well as Argentinean River Plate (Group F), Cologne (Group G) and Brazil’s Flamengo (Group H).
As for the runners-up, they will be in the second tier: Ecuadorian Emilek, Atlético Paranaense of Brazil, Vélez Sarsfield of Argentina, Deportes Tolima, Corinthians of Brazil, Fortaleza of Brazil, Cerro Portiño of Paraguay and Talleres Córdoba of Argentina.
