Tony Nadal, the uncle and former coach of tennis star Rafael Nadal, has confirmed that he requires the players he coaches not to give them advice in order to beat his nephew.
Tony, coach of Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, who lost to Nadal in the first match of the clay tournament, told the Marca newspaper: “If anyone runs into my nephew, I have to support Rafa, who is preparing for the semi-finals of Roland Garros. -final against Alexander Zverev.
Of this matchup, he explained: “Rafa is the best on clay, in the semi-finals he will face a younger player who has a very good serve. I hope Nadal wins the match.”
He added: “The level that Rafa showed against Djokovic was high and if he comes back to show the same level, he will be closer to winning the title.”
Tony said after Nadal’s victory over his Canadian player Auger Eliassime: “I used to say that I want my nephew to win, although I coach Felix and help him, but I cannot give up on Nadal or hope to beat him.”
