The Portuguese Evelise Veiga won the silver medal this Friday in the United Manchester World Athletics Continental Tour 2022 long jump event, in England.
Sporting’s Evelise finished the contest with 6.32 meters, 12 centimeters from Australia’s Brooke Buschkuehlwho set a new meeting record (6.44 meters) after the first attempt.
Catarina Queirós, from the Associação Cultural Desportiva do Jardim da Serra, reached the final of the 100 meter hurdles with the fourth best time (13.57 seconds), but in the decisive race she would finish sixth, with 13.68 seconds.
In the 110 meter hurdles, João Vítor Oliveira, from Benfica, was fifthwith 14.01 seconds, while in the 400 meters Mauro Pereira, from the Popular Center of Workers of Sobral de Ceira (CPTSC), was seventhat 47.84.
In the final B of the 800 meters, the athlete David García finished his performance in seventh (1.53.36), his best mark this season, while Patrícia Silva, also from Sporting, was fifthwith 2.04.45.
Benfica’s José Carlos Pinto withdrew in the 800m final and Sporting’s Salomé Afonso withdrew from the 1,500m.
