Ricardinho announced the new challenge: at the age of 36 he will play for the next three months at Pendekar United in Indonesia

It didn’t even take a week: just five days after announcing his departure from ACCS, Ricardinho revealed his next step in his career. The 36-year-old, considered one of the greatest futsal players of all time, will spend three months in Indonesia with Pendekar United.

“New adventure!!! To announce that I have reached an agreement with my new club and that it will undoubtedly be another great adventure in a different country! A project with ambition, in a country that loves futsal and where I am going eager to help the club and the team achieve something unique and unprecedented! Here we go, Indonesia, PendekarUnited! It will only be a three-month contract and finish the season and then we will decide if we continue or not… Let it be a great challenge”, wrote Ricardinho on Instagram, leaving open the possibility of continuing or not in the Indonesian club.

However, one thing is for sure: In the next three months, the Portuguese player will not play with the usual ’10’ on his back. At Pendekar United, that privilege belongs to Atta Halilintar, a well-known YouTube content creator who owns the club and is also a subscriber to the team. Thus, nine years after playing without the ’10’ for the last time, Ricardinho will compete with the ’24’.

Last Wednesday, the former Portuguese international had announced the departure of the Frenchman from the ACCS, where he played the last two seasons. “It is time to say goodbye and thank all colleagues and staff who helped us make history with the club. Unfortunately, we were unable to continue with a dream of a project with little structure. We are going to another project with more ambition, since the end is near”, wrote Ricardinho, also on social networks.

It should be remembered that the player arrived at the ACCS in 2020 and, in his first season, helped the team win the first and only national championship title in a still very short history. However, at the end of that season, the club was sanctioned with relegation to the second division by the French Football Federation due to financial irregularities and salary breaches. Already in 2021/22, the ACCS was champion of the second division and stamped the return to the highest category. In two years, Ricardinho only played 18 games and scored 11 goals, numbers heavily conditioned by injuries that kept him out of the competition for several periods.
