Diogo Jota injured his thigh in Portugal’s loss to Switzerland

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota injured his thigh in Sunday’s defeat in Switzerland (1-0), for the Football Nations League, in which “he presented muscular discomfort”.

According to a note posted on the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) website, the player complained after the match and underwent a “complementary examination in Geneva which revealed a thigh injury.”

“Liverpool was informed of all the procedures carried out by the player while he was still in Switzerland, duly accompanied by the team doctor,” the statement read.

The 25-year-old striker, who has already scored nine goals for the national team, came on in the 62nd minute to complete his 27th internationalization with the ‘AA’.

Jota’s injury, who played 55 games (21 goals) with Liverpool, comes at the end of the season for both clubs and national teams.
