Morocco coach Wahid Halilhodzic confirmed they should only be thinking about the World Cup final after they largely secured qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Liberia.

The Moroccan team defeated Liberia with two clean sheets from Faisal Fajr and Youssef Al Nusairi in a match that brought them together at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca in the second round of the Group 11 qualifiers.

With this result, Morocco reaches the sixth point and takes first place in a group of only 3 teams, after the elimination of Zimbabwe.

Halilhodzic indicated that he gave some players the opportunity to show their abilities and reach the final of the World Cup.

The Morocco coach believes that they will face big challenges at the World Cup in Qatar, especially since the draw placed them in what is considered the most difficult group, but he is confident in their ability to develop and that they must prepare well, so What’s more, they don’t have much time left.

He concluded that the heavy defeat they suffered at the hands of Team USA in camp brought them back to reality and was the reason for the two victories that brought them closer to qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations.
