UEFA sanctions Slovan Bratislava for racist fan chants

The Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia was fined almost 80,000 euros for the behavior of its fans, including racist chants, in the duel with the Hungarian Ferencvaros, in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, UEFA announced on Friday.

In addition to the fines, the Disciplinary Committee of European football’s governing body ordered the partial closure of the Slovan Bratislava stadium for one matchwith the obligation to place a sign with the phrase say no to racism (say no to racism).

At issue is the behavior of the Slovak fans in the first leg of the Champions League second qualifying round in Budapest, in which Slovan beat Ferencvaros 2-1.

In the second leg, in Slovakia, the Hungarians won 4-1 and moved ahead in the competition.

UEFA has punished Slovan with a fine of 40,000 euros for the racist chants of his fans, another 25,000 euros for throwing objects onto the pitch and a third of 13,000 euros for the use of pyrotechnics.
