Benfica’s coach, the German Roger Schmidt, left André Almeida, Paulo Bernardo and Diego Moreira out of the squad for this Friday’s match with Arouca, from the first day of the I Football League.
Schmidt reduced the list of chosen 24 to 21 athletescompared to the choices he had made for the Champions League match against Midtjylland (4-1 victory), with the German still changing goalkeeper, Samuel Soares leaving and Leo Kobuko entering.
After leaving out Gil Dias, Soualiho Meïté, Diogo Gonçalves and Rodrigo Pinho on Tuesday, the German coach again without including these four players in the options for the match at the Estádio da Luz.
Reinforcements Ristic and João Victor are still out, recovering from injuries, along with Brazilian centre-back Lucas Veríssimo, who missed almost all of last season with ligament damage in his right knee.
Benfica and Arouca give the kick-off in the I Football League 2022/23in a match starting at 8:15 p.m. at Estádio da Luz, with arbitration by Manuel Mota, from the Braga Football Association.
