Harry Maguire, captain of Manchester United, commented on the defeat of his team by Brighton (2:1) at Old Trafford in the first round of the English Premier League.

Maguire told Sky Sports: “We entered the game positively and the pre-season was good, but we had the worst start: two unanswered goals in the first half. This is a bad start for us.”

He added: “We had the advantage and control of the match and then we got the first goal and it shocked us a lot. We have to work so that we don’t get hurt when we get the first goal.”

He continued: “Between the two halves we talked about the importance of scoring and I think we got good results in the second half but overall we didn’t deliver.”

And he summed up: “Everyone knows the task, we had a bad season (last season), and now we have a new coach who is trying to set a philosophy for the team, but when we do not implement it, there are gaps.”
