Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea expressed disappointment with the level he showed in a 4-0 win against Brentford at Griffin Park in the second round of the English Premier League.
De Gea missed Brentford’s first goal after Belinda Joshua Da Silva’s weak ball from outside the box, strangely passed under the Spanish goalkeeper’s hand, hit the net.
The Spanish goalkeeper also made another miss in the second goal, passing the ball to Eriksen, who was under pressure on the edge of the penalty area, and Matthias Janssen interrupted him and easily shot into the net.
“I’m taking charge today, I cost my team 3 points,” De Gea told Sky Sports.
He added: “After the first and second misses that I made, it became very difficult for my colleagues and we were not able to take advantage of the opportunities given to us to score goals.”
