The Sporting player Ana Capeta, absent in the Eurocup England 2022, returned this Tuesday to the squad of the women’s soccer teamwithout Benfica’s injured Catarina Amado in the last two qualifying matches for the 2023 Australia/New Zealand World Cup.
In addition, the batch of 23 chosen by the national coach, Francisco Neto, is the same one that was present in the recent final phase of the continental competition, played in July, in which Portugal finished in the group stage in which it was his second presence in such events.
Now, Portugal will visit Serbia, in Belgrade, on September 2, and will receive Turkey, on September 6, in Vizela, to try to feed the dream of a World Cup debut.
After eight of the 10 days of Group H of the European classification, Portugal remains in third position, with 16 points, two less than the Serbian counterpart and five behind the leader, Germany.
Only the first classified of each of the nine groups of the Old Continent are classified directly for the World Cup next year, while the runners-up will have to compete for a “play off“.
The “quinas” team will be concentrated in training from August 28 at the Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras.
The final stage of the Antipodes tournament will take place between July 20 and August 20, 2023.
