A school district in Texas has banned men’s participation in women’s sports and the use of preferred pronouns in the classroom.
The Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District Board, which was approved by a vote of 4 to 3, voted Monday night to ensure that teachers do not address students with their preferred pronouns and that trans students are prohibited from participating in sports that do not match their biological sex. . .
“The District may not encourage, solicit or encourage the use of titles or pronouns for students, teachers, or any other person in any way that goes against that person’s biological sex,” the new policy said.
The policy also states that if the child’s parents insist on using that pronoun, teachers will have “own discretion” to use the preferred pronoun. Faculty or staff are also not allowed to teach sexual orientation or discuss gender fluidity.
Board member Casey Ford said the new policy reflects the wishes of society.
“This policy is the product of input from many groups, including the council policy committee, district attorneys, council attorneys, directors and directors committee, and most importantly, community members,” Ford said. “But there is one group that has had the greatest impact: the Texas State Legislature.”

“You can talk about Santa Claus, but you can’t talk about gays in fifth grade,” Sexton said. “It’s unbelievable, you’re acting like nobody’s there. There are thousands of LGBTQ people who live here and pay taxes in this area.
But another woman, whose grandchildren attend schools in the region, spoke out in favor of a sports policy where all sporting events are “segregated by the student’s opposite biological gender.”
“The policies that are on the agenda right now, that put girls in competition with biological girls, are very important to me,” said the grandmother. “I want to ensure that my grandchildren can enjoy the fruits and hard work of my generation by participating in fair sports.”
The Texas American Civil Liberties Union said the new policy would hinder students’ mental development.
“To be successful in a democratic society, students need an accurate and inclusive education to better understand the lives, cultures and experiences of different people,” the organization said. Said. “This includes studying history and discussing race, gender, and systemic inequality.”
