Mourinho and a Rome that shines in the light of Dybala, the new jewel of the Olympic

Roma went to Turin at the weekend for what was the first big test of the season, and came out of the clash with Juventus with a draw that turned out to be somewhat flattering of José Mourinho’s team before the superiority shown by the bianconeri in practically the entire game. Even so, that was the first setback for Roma, who remained invincible and integrated into a large group of teams with seven points in Serie A.

However, it was not all good news. As soon as the final whistle sounded, Mourinho did not hide his disgust at the team’s performance, especially in the first half, and explained the conversation he had with the players in the locker room at half-time. “I was very honest, I said I was ashamed of them. It was not a tactical problem, it was an attitude problem. We can’t come to this stadium to play like this. I remember telling Salvador Foti [treinador adjunto] to pray that at the break it was only 0-1, because for us it was a fantastic result. In the second half it was different and we deserved the draw”, shot the Portuguese coach, who ended up seeing Tammy Abraham guarantee equality after Vlahovic’s first goal from a direct free kick.

Mourinho was right: Dybala doesn’t need great advice (or how Roma drew with Juventus in Turin)

In the following days, Mourinho received a toast. In what is the last week of the transfer market, Roma announced the signing of Andrea Belotti, Italian international striker who arrived at zero cost after ending his contract with Torino, and also of Mady Camara, Olympiacos midfielder who appears as a solution to the unfortunate injury of Wijnaldum, who was loaned by PSG this summer.

Thus, this Tuesday, Roma returned to the field and received the seemingly accessible Monza at the Olympic, who had lost three in three Serie A games. Mourinho made some changes to the starting eleven against Juventus, swapping Smalling for Kumbulla in the defensive trio. and also replacing those responsible for the corridors, leaving Spinazzola and Karsdorp to enter Çelik and Zalewski. Dybala, Pellegrini and Abraham were the protagonists, with Belotti already on the bench. On the other hand, the Portuguese under-21 international Dany Mota was a substitute.

With enough pragmatism, Roma left the match practically decided in the first half. Dybala opened the scoring in the first 20 minutes, taking advantage of an assist from Abraham with a header to shoot low just outside the goalkeeper and make his debut scoring for the giallorossi (18′), and scored twice later, in a refusal of a first shot from the English striker (32′). In the second half, at the end of the match, Ibañez appeared in the penalty area to respond to a corner from the left and headed in to increase the lead and close the scoring (61′).

After the draw in Turin, Roma returned to winning ways and added their third victory in Serie A, remaining undefeated and with a high level of display. Mourinho went to look for his jewel, Paulo Dybala, and Roma already shines in the light of the Argentine striker.
