The rising young hockey star reportedly passed away in his locker room before a preseason game in Canada on Tuesday.
Eli Palfriman, 20, of Ontario, reportedly fainted in the locker room during the first break of the Ayr Mutual Global Invitational preseason season at the North Dumfries Community Complex. reported.
Medical teams were unable to revive the team’s star striker, who was recently promoted to team captain. He spent his second season with the Ayr Centennials.
An estimated cause of death was not disclosed, and the Centennials team said they would not speculate “out of respect for the family’s right to privacy.”
“We ask for your prayers and support for the Eli family and each and every one of our players,” Centennials Vice President Brian Shantz said in a statement. Said. “Our Centennials organization and the Era community are in mourning. Eli received the best care from our medical staff and prompt response from outpatients.”

Palfriman was vaccinated twice and encouraged to play. Under Canadian law, all athletes must be vaccinated and empowered by the coronavirus to enter sports stadiums and arenas.
“We offer our deepest condolences to Eli’s family, all of his teammates and Ayr staff. “We keep them in our thoughts and prayers,” said Michael Oak, general manager of Peterborough Petes.
Palfriman was delighted to take on his responsibilities as the team’s new captain and said on Friday: “Words cannot express how honored I am to be in this position, returning this year – my final year – as captain.”

The 20-year-old was selected in the 12th round of the 2018 Ontario Hockey League draft by the Peterborough Pits. Last season, he split his time between the Centennials and the US Premier League Atlanta Mad Hatters. .
