Mercedes’ George Russell finished sixth in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix but will start second on Sunday as several drivers have been fined for using new powertrain parts, including Red Bull duo Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who placed first in practice three, should start fourth with all penalties applied as Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) also received turnaround penalties from the qualifying centers.

These misses saw Russell start second behind Mercedes at Monza, ahead of Lando Norris in third and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo just behind him in fifth.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is reported to start from pole.
