A fan who threw a bottle at Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam in the final minutes of the Jets defeat at his home on Sunday was accused by police of assault and banned from FirstEnergy Stadium for life.
The incident occurred minutes after Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson caught the game-winning touchdown pass. As Haslam was walking from the field to the tunnel leading to the stadium, he was hit by a bottle.

Haslam stopped to show the offending fan, whom police identified as Jeffrey Miller from Rocky River, Ohio.
“Several officers at the scene apparently caught Miller trying to leave the stadium, and one of them wrote that the suspect ‘looked drunk’ at the time,” he told WKYC News. “Miller was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct, although he told investigators he ‘did not appear on the field’.”
In a statement to WKYC, the Browns stressed the need to ensure the safety of fans and players at their events.
The safety of fans, players and staff is a top priority in our building and behavior that puts others in danger is unacceptable. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident, and as per standard practice, we have cooperated with law enforcement and the CCTV footage of the object is in the right hands. We have no further comments on this subject.
The Browns were in control for most of Sunday’s game and looked poised for a second straight win before designing a game-winning drive that saw Jets quarterback Joe Flacco snatch a touchdown pass behind Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson.
The Browns will then travel to Pittsburgh to pick up the rival Steelers. Thursday Night Football.
