WATCH: Minor league player celebrates a home run after realizing it’s volleyball

Have you ever been to a party and realized you were the only one there? That’s probably pretty close to how minor league forward Delvin Perez felt this morning.

Minor league baseball player Perez for the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds hit what he thought was a phenomenal, monstrous number from the left field Thursday night. The young hitter trotted into a victorious house with finger-pointing and quite a naive showdown. Instead, he learned (only after he had recovered after rounding third base) that he had actually hit a high-flying ball and barely reached the warning path.

Pérez must have been surprised at the cold, icy stare he received from the third base coach, unlike the usual high fives and congratulations that third base coaches usually give to kickers after they kick.

It would have been nice to keep his teammates calm and prolong Perez’s speech, but instead they laughed a little. We can assume that the laughter continued after the match.
