The Los Angeles Lakers turned off comments on an Instagram post announcing Pride Night.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Instagram page inexplicably shut down comments on a post announcing the upcoming Pride Night.

On October 12, the Lakers will truly celebrate Pride Night and offered a special rainbow jersey to commemorate the occasion.

“Join us on October 12 for the annual #LakersPrideNight! All fans who attend will receive our first Lakers Pride jersey,” the Lakers announced on Instagram. “Live your truth. Be the Future.”

It was not specified what exactly LGBT Honor had to do with basketball, or why the Lakers felt the need to celebrate Honor after the month such Honor was celebrated. There’s really nothing to say in the post as it’s closed to comments.

But on Twitter, the Lakers’ social media team must have forgotten to disable comments, and fans are more than happy to give their opinions.

“When will your Christian or Catholic night be? Or is it forbidden to live this truth? A user asked.

“We don’t need to choke on it lol. But at least they’re doing it in the pre-season, not the regular season.”

“Right or wrong. It’s not fair to people who don’t want to wear it. I feel the same about Black Lives Matter. If you don’t support it, why are you acting like it?”. Forced acceptance is a problem. I don’t wear it because it’s prescription,” said another.

The upcoming “Honor Night” will be the fourth time the Lakers celebrate. The team said in a press release that the evening will “celebrate diversity, equality, unity and solidarity by welcoming participants and supporters from the LGBTQ+ community.”

“The Lakers are proud to announce that every fan who attends will receive a commemorative Lakers Pride jersey,” the statement said. “The Pride celebration will also delight fans with exclusive in-game entertainment.”

“Friends and prominent members of the LGBTQ+ community will join the celebration tonight,” the post said. “Members and supporters of various LGBTQ+ organizations will also be honored, including LAMBDA Basketball, Rainbow Labs, and the Sports Equality Foundation.”
