Switzerland in full force to face Portugal, a familiar opponent

Switzerland coach Murat Yakin admits that the Swiss team knows what to count on in the World Cup round of 16 match against Portugal. “We know the opponent and we are ready to face him. The past doesn’t matter.”

Switzerland will have all the players available for the match against Portugal. “The injured players are recovered. We want to give our fans one more game”. Murat Yakin does not forget the recent duels between the Swiss and the Portuguese. The last time the two teams met, Switzerland won 1-0. “We showed that we can hold up with great teams. We have a chance to be dominant tomorrow. The rival is ready, but we hope to take advantage of our opportunities, ”admitted the coach without lifting the veil in relation to the strategy of the game, but without forgetting what he will find on the Portuguese side. “We know that Ronaldo can make the difference, we can’t give him space.”

In the history of matches between Switzerland and Portugal, there have only been five draws in 25 matches. Even so, Murat Yakin confesses: “We take penalties, but we don’t want to get to that part.”

Next to the selector was Embolo. The striker knows that Pepe will be his direct rival in tomorrow’s game. “I’ve faced him a few times and he’s always tough.” For the Swiss, Pepe is not the only player to take into account. “Cristiano Ronaldo is a benchmark in our generation. It is an honor to face him”, says the Monaco player. As for the hopes of Switzerland, Embolo considers that the Swiss are “underdogsand that the match against Portugal will be “a challenge”, where the team has to “take advantage of opportunities”.
