Temperatures could reach 36 degrees: 29 counties in five districts with maximum fire risk

This Friday, temperatures can range between 27 degrees Celsius in Guarda and 36 degrees in Santarém, while the minimum will range between 11 degrees in Bragança and 20 in Aveiro, Portalegre and Porto, predicts the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). ).

The continent will have clear or clear skies, light to moderate wind from the eastern quadrant, blowing from moderate to strong (25 to 40 km/h) in the highlands until the end of the morning and the end of the afternoon, and an increase in temperature, especially in the maxims.

With these climatic conditions, IPMA placed 29 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Portalegre, Santarém, Leiria and Castelo Branco with maximum risk of fire. They are: Aljezur, Lagos, Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira (Lighthouse), Portalegre, Gavião, Castelo de Vide, Marvão, Nisa (Portalegre), Vila Velha de Ródão, Proença-a-Nova , Vila de Rei, Sertã (Castelo Branco), Batalha and Marinha Grande (Leiria).

The municipalities of Mação, Abrantes, Chamusca, Constância, Vila Nova da Barquinha, Sardoal, Ferreira do Zêzere, Tomar, Ourém and Alcanena (Santarém) are also at maximum risk.

The IPMA also placed several councils of almost all the districts of mainland Portugal very high and high risk. Wildfire danger will remain high in some regions of the continent at least through Tuesday.

The risk of fire, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from the minimum to the maximum, the calculations are obtained from the air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and the amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
