Continental Portugal and the archipelagos of Madeira and Azores present a very high and high risk of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation this Friday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
In continental Portugal, all the districts, except Viana do Castelo, Braga, Viseu, Castelo Branco, Leiria and Lisboa, which have high levels, present a very high risk of exposure to UV radiation.
The archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores also have very high levels of UV radiation exposure today.
The ultraviolet radiation scale has five levels, between extreme and low risk.
For very high-risk regions, the IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with UV filter, cap, “t-shirt”, umbrella, sunscreen and that Avoid exposing children to the sun.
For high-risk regions, it also recommends the use of sunglasses with a UV filter, a cap, a “t-shirt” and sunscreen.
