Breitbart News recently reported that TikTok reported that some employees of the China-based company had access to the personal information of US users. Recognition of the company came in a letter to nine US senators who accused TikTok and its parent company ByteDance Ltd. Spying on US citizens.
Senators asked TikTok whether Chinese employees had access to US user data, what their role was in developing the TikTok algorithm, and whether any information was shared with the Chinese government.
Show Zi Chu, CEO of TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, said in a June 30 letter that employees who passed a set of internal security protocols in China will have access to some information about TikTok users in the US, including public videos and comments. Chu said none of this information was shared with the Chinese government and was subject to “strict cybersecurity controls.”
