Oberlin College in 2019 was ordered to pay Gibson’s bakery $33 million for defamation after Raimondo, now a former dean, arranged a wake-up mob to call the police on three black students for allegedly stealing wine bottles and discredit the family as racist.
The money was supposed to be paid to the bakery on April 1, but the college refused to pay it.
In addition, two plaintiffs died. Gibson bakery owner Ellin Gibson and his son David Gibson have passed away, and the family is looking forward to the millions they received from Oberlin College.
Meanwhile, Oberlin allegedly filed an appeal against them. The appeal will go to the Ohio Supreme Court after two lower courts rejected the college’s attempts to evade Gibson.
