A house called the “Theme House of Colored Person” outside of the UC Berkeley campus reportedly prohibits whites from entering common areas to “avoid violence and the presence of whites.” The proposed house rules also state that residents must alert other residents in a group chat when they bring white visitors to the property.
“Many POC members have moved here to avoid violence and white presence, so if you bring white guests, respect their decision to stay away,” the list of must-have rules for the house explains.

The guidelines also emphasize that residents should ensure that their guests “understand the values of our home and support the theme of the home.”
While whites are not completely prohibited from entering the building, residents are encouraged to alert other tenants in a group chat when they bring a white person into the property.
One rule says, “Always announce guests in guest chat if you’re going to join them in public areas and if they’re white.”
But it was “not allowed” to allow whites to avoid “white violence and presence” by non-whites in the common areas of the house.
“Guests are accepted in the common areas, but be careful if there are household members in the room beforehand. “White visitors are not allowed to enter the common areas,” he said.
Guidelines also encourage residents to “avoid joining parents/family members who express intolerance” because “queer, black and indigenous people should not avoid common areas because of a homophobic or racist parent/family member”.
According to the Fox News report, the Off-Campus “Color-Themed Person House” is private residence and not affiliated with the university.
According to its website, the house “aims to provide housing for low-income first-generation students, immigrants, and marginalized students of color.”
“The Houses of Color exists to create a safe and welcoming place for members of their homes and to build unity among communities of color in the Berkeley area and beyond,” the website said.
