Banco de Fomento supported 1,600 companies with 600 million in the first semester

In the first six months of 2022, the Banco Português de Fomento guaranteed support to around 1,600 companies. According to the institution, there were 556 million euros of guaranteed financing and 44.7 million co-investments of 44.7 million euros, using capitalization instruments.

The institution explains that through publicly guaranteed lines, “the BPF mobilized around 379 million euros in guarantees issued” and that the multiplier effects of these lines “demonstrate that the allocation of public funds has allowed, throughout this semester, support access to financing of 556 million euros to approximately 1,600 Portuguese companies, which employ some 57,400 workers”.

BPF has 15 active guarantee instruments as of June 30, 2022. In the first half of the year, the guarantee portfolio in force amounts to 9,085 million euros, which translates into total support for more than 84,700 companies.

Regarding capital instruments, the BPF closed the semester with 16 active investment programs. 39 capitalization operations were approved, in 37 companies, with a total investment of 67.7 million euros. Of these, 44.7 million euros were allocated by the BPF. The institution hopes that this investment will help create or maintain more than a thousand jobs.

The bank recalls that until June three investment programs were launched, including the Strategic Recapitalization Program and the Consolidar Program, with an allocation of 650 million euros, “which aim to capitalize Portuguese companies, either through investment or co-investment directly in companies. , or through alliances to be implemented with venture capital companies”.

In debt instruments, the bank supported, from the beginning and until the end of the first half of 2022, 46 companies, equivalent to 49 financing operations, backed by 74.9 million euros of approved financing. 860 jobs will have been created or maintained.

There are also two new instruments in the operational phase, with an allocation of 350 million euros, which will finance “projects related to the social economy or small business” and that can have an impact on the economy of around 700 million euros, reveals the GMP.
