The design of the Russian-Indian hypersonic “Brahmos” missile is expected to be completed by 2028.
This was announced by the general director of the company “BrahMos” on the Russian side and the deputy general director of the company “Machinostroeni”. Alexander Maxichev.
“Work on the design of the joint Indo-Russian hypersonic missile is proceeding at full speed. Despite changing priorities, conditions and applicants, there are still 5-6 years to go.”
It is noteworthy that earlier the Indian media reported that the BrahMos II missile will receive some technologies of the Russian hypersonic sea missile “Tsirkon”, produced by the company “Machinostrwin”.
Coordination was achieved between the two parties regarding the missile design project, and it was agreed that the missile would be developed only for the Russian and Indian armies and would not be delivered to other parties.
It is worth noting that the “Bramos” missile is based on the Russian naval “Onyx” missile, and this missile is currently used by the Indian Navy and Air Force. The Russian hypersonic missile “Zircon” was designed without relying on any other model. It is the only sea missile in the world that can reach a speed of Mach 8 (approximately 10,000 km / h).
