BMW prepares a super M with 4 motors and electric

Interested in proposing a spacious and sporty model, more powerful and capable of offering all-wheel drive, BMW began developing a more powerful version of the current M50. Instead of a shaft engine, the German brand intends to launch a super M version with one motor per wheelwhich will certainly increase the power and allow you to perform the flashy maneuver seen in the promotional video.

The BMW M50 is the most powerful electric sedan in the battery-powered BMW range, equipped with two engines that add up to 544 hp, 34 hp more than the 510 hp of the M3 sports saloon, with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine. . Torque also gives the battery-powered sports saloon an edge, as it announces 795 Nm, compared to 650 Nm for the petrol M3, which translates into more power and less revs. Weight and refueling speed alone do not favor the M50which announces 2290 kg, 435 kg more than the combustion M3.

In the promotional video you can see a BMW i4, assuming that it is the aforementioned super M, moving along a mountain road. The situation changes and draws attention when the camouflaged BMW spins on itself, a maneuver impossible to perform by a vehicle with 4×4 traction. Only if this is guaranteed by four independent motors, which allow the super M to turn the right wheels backwards and the two left wheels forward.

The advantage of mounting four motors, instead of two, would be to be able to also increase the power supplied, so it is possible that BMW fans will soon have an M with a power greater than the current 544 hp, although that requires a battery of greater capacity.
