Jeep prepares a large luxury SUV with 640 km of autonomy

All the brands of the Stellantis Group, led by the Portuguese Carlos Tavares, are reinforcing the design and production of increasingly sophisticated electric vehicles to maximize their efficiency. This is more evident among the manufacturers that intend to sell their vehicles in the European market, especially demanding in terms of non-polluting models, since those equipped with combustion engines will be prohibited from marketing from 2035. Jeep is one of these manufacturers, a manufacturer that, after announcing the small Avenger electric SUV, will reinforce the range with this type of engine with the Wagoneer S, with the promise that it will not be the last.

The Wagoneer S will be a generously sized luxury SUV, with a cabin capable of seating up to seven people. This puts it slightly above the Grand Cherokee, not necessarily being much longer on the outside, but it will benefit from a larger cabin, as the absence of the combustion engine, gearbox and 4×4 drive system, allows the design to be shorter. front, to the advantage of space on board.

Jeep, originally very strong in its home market, the US, is one of the most recognizable brands in the European market, when the conversation turns to SUVs and the specifications and potential that characterize them. If until now the North American brand lives mainly on the pure and simple Wrangler, as well as the small Renegade and the compact Compass, Jeep is committed to expanding its European range with the arrival of electric models.

As for the new Wagonner S, everything indicates that it will be around 600 hp, probably due to the adoption of two engines, one per axle, which should take it beyond 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds. It is an acceleration capacity compatible with the announced power, which places the future Jeep flagship among the fastest SUVs on the market. The generous platform will accommodate a large battery pack, as the brand offers a range of 640 km between charges.

From the photos released, Jeep will remain true to its traditional line in the Wagoneer S, as well as to the brand’s grill with seven openings. The high-end SUV, of which we are now revealing the first drawings, can be ordered from 2023 in the North American market, although the first deliveries are only scheduled for 2024. The European market will also have access to this seven-seater SUV, but with a calendar delayed by almost 12 months, compared to the American market.
