Toyota is committed to accelerating the supply of electric vehicles, especially in markets that need them most, such as China and Europe. The bZ4X, the battery-powered SUV that has been delayed by minor issues related to wheel studs and hubs, will have the company of the saloon bZ3, model designed on the same basis that appears to have been designed to cope with models like the Tesla Model 3.
The Japanese manufacturer has not yet presented the bZ3, but photos of the battery-powered saloon ended up on the internet so Toyota sent them to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which handles the records. The platform serving the bZ3 is the same as the bZ4X, the e-TNGA, which can offer all-wheel drive if one motor per axle is mounted. But, apparently, it will only opt for an electric motor (installed in the rear) when starting the saloon.
bZ4X is Toyota’s first battery electric and arrives in 2022
As far as is known, the bZ3 will be offered in the initial phase with a single motor and two power levels, respectively 185 hp and 247 hp, despite being limited to 160 km/h, in both cases. Battery data not availablebut the electric saloon must be aligned with the battery installed in the SUV.
Toyota’s first electric SUV already has a price
The bZ3 measures around 4.72 meters long, similar to the Model 3 and other competitors in the battery-powered D-segment, with a width that reaches 1.83 m and a height of 1.47 m. The electric saloon, which will be publicly unveiled at the upcoming Chinese Hall in Guangzhou, in November, should begin to be marketed shortly after in China. It will then head to Europe, where it will arrive in 2024.
