Microsoft celebrates 30 years of its significant presence in China with a commitment to hire more than 1,000 workers in the communist country.
The technology giant, which entered the Chinese market in 1992, now has facilities in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as the technology giant’s largest R&D center outside the USA.
According to reports, Microsoft plans to increase the number of its employees in China by more than 10,000 brands, as well as renovate its research and development centers to “make Chinese part of Microsoft’s global plan intelligence.”

The celebration started with the news that the company plans to hire 1,000 more workers in China. These hirings will exceed 10,000 local employees. More importantly, they note that Microsoft has seen significant growth in China, and that their own major tech companies have laid off a large number of employees due to stagnant economic growth.
The software giant’s manufacturing facilities in Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou will be upgraded over the next three to five years. All will have technology considered ideal for hybrid operation and lower carbon emissions.
Better still, from the Chinese perspective, the expanded offices will house teams of researchers and developers who will bring Chinese intelligence to Microsoft’s global plans. The sales and marketing team will also enjoy the updated digs.
Microsoft’s own website welcomes its presence in China and its efforts to develop research and development capabilities under the communist dictatorship.

Microsoft has been in China for over 20 years and entered the market in 1992. Our founder, Bill Gates, discreetly opened an office in Beijing and accurately predicted the country’s transition to a booming economy, which was obvious.
Microsoft expanded its business nationwide in line with its long-term investment and development strategy. Today, our most complete non-US subsidiary and largest R&D facility is located in China. Microsoft works closely with customers and industry partners to drive innovation and localize and deploy Microsoft technologies and solutions in China. Microsoft has a robust partner ecosystem of 17,000 partners. For every yuan Microsoft earns in China, Microsoft’s partners earn 16. In early 2015, Microsoft was named “The World’s 10 Most Innovative Companies 2015 in China” by Fast Company magazine in early 2015 for its local product strategy and commitment to helping Chinese partners. . . It is on the list of “Companies Rethinking the Chinese Economy” along with Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu and other companies.
Microsoft is far from the only Western tech giant to maintain a significant presence in China. Apple, one of its biggest hardware competitors, relied heavily on Foxconn’s manufacturing operations in China to build the iPhone; Including a giant factory called “iPhone City” in Henan province.
However, Apple has announced that its new flagship smartphone iPhone 14 will be produced in India instead of China, as a possible sign of what will happen in the near future.
