House Minority Whip, Representative. Steve Scalise (R-LA) appeared on SiriusXM. Breitbart Daily News Yesterday with Alex Marlow. During the interview, Scalise opposed the Journalistic Competition and Protection Act (JCPA), saying the media cartel law “absolutely won’t pass” through the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
“The JCPA is what we call the Media Cartel Act, which will allow resident media and big tech to negotiate payments for resident media,” said host Alex Marlowe. “I think that’s a reward for not researching Big Tech. I think the score is so bad, I didn’t see your weigh-in – got it?
“I haven’t seen a single attempt by Pelosi to pass him in Congress—it certainly won’t be under a Republican House,” Scalise said.
“You’re also going to see a lot of aggressive oversight of big tech,” said a GOP minority representative. “Everything they’ve done to suppress freedom of speech – and look, Jim Jordan and Katherine McMorris Rogers of the Energy and Commerce Committee are working on a bill to actually reform Section 230, which says you can’t discriminate against speech. These are things set up against some of these big tech giants who use the free speech mantra to get all these protections and then trample on your free speech rights every day. One day. This must stop.”
“Yeah, I think time is used better than that. [the JCPA]I think this will really help Big Tech and it’s being marketed to the public as “Big Tech isn’t going to like it,” says Marlowe.
“I think big tech is going to really like it, and I think the enterprise media will love it. If this thing continues to raise its head, I’ll probably talk about it again in the future.
