Scientists: Global warming is reducing the difference between night and day

Climate scientists argue that global warming is reducing the difference between daytime and nighttime air temperatures.

Scientists have not yet focused on such a phenomenon caused by climate change, because they only make their calculations and long-term forecasts by considering the average temperature.

The difference between day and night temperatures is important for many processes that occur on Earth.

For example, the aforementioned difference is important for planting and harvesting crops, heating facilities, and human and animal health so that plants do not freeze, because the cold summer nights sun significantly reduces the effect of heat on the human body. But if the temperature does not drop at night, problems may arise.

And scientists from various universities in the United States, Japan and China decided to delve into this problem. For this they used a supercomputer from the University of Tsukuba in Japan, where they created a very detailed model for predictions with an accuracy of two square kilometers and also used data, knowing that climate models usually guarantee accuracy of 100 square kilometers. 2005-2014 Temperature and other weather parameters at the beginning of the 21st century and climate change scenarios until the end of this century. They also take into account the amount of rain and soil moisture.

What were the consequences of the prophecies that finally happened? The temperature will rise during the day and at night. This is not new news. But it turns out that in many parts of the world, daytime temperatures will rise more slowly than nighttime temperatures.

The reason for this is in the clouds, which prevent the sun from heating the air during the day, and their number will increase. At night, the opposite happens, as you protect the Earth from rapid cooling. As a result, the difference between day and night temperatures will be less than today. Will the difference matter? – No, only 0.25-0.5 degrees Celsius. This is despite the fact that the exact indicators depend on local characteristics.

“It is very difficult to predict how clouds will change due to global warming,” said Professor Dave Newgi of the University of Texas at Austin.

His colleague Xuan Kwang at Japan’s “Tsukuba” University said he is also confident that clouds and clouds play an important role in changes in the sun’s climate and temperature, as they affect the amount of solar radiation and exchange . The heat between the earth’s surface or ocean and the atmosphere. The difference between day and night air temperature is important for human, animal and plant life.
