Electric vehicle market up 21.5% until November

The electric vehicle market grew by 21.5% between January and November, with 53,085 cars sold, according to data from ACAP — Associação Automóvel de Portugal, released this Monday.

In a statement, the association explained that 5,588 units were registered in November alone, an increase of 12.3% compared to the same period last year.

By category, in November, 5,478 new electric, plug-in and electric hybrid cars were registered11.8% more than in the same month of 2021.

Between January and November, this market added 52,321 units, a gain of 20.5% compared to the first 11 months of the previous year.

“Specifically in electric vehicles, in November 2022 there was an increase of 7.6% compared to the same month of 2021, with 2,120 new passenger cars having been registered,” reads the same note.

In the accumulated of the 11 months, there was an increase of 38% with 15,712 units sold.

Successively, The market for electric, plug-in and electric hybrids for light vehicles grew by 40.8% compared to November 2021, with 107 units registered.

This market reached 760 units between January and November, showing a growth of 179.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In November, there was a 39.5% increase in the registrations of new light electric goods vehicles, compared to the same month in 2021, while, from January to November, there was a gain of 190.2%.

Regarding heavy vehicles, which includes types of passengers and goods, in the first 11 months of the year “there were no changes, since the number of registered vehicles is exactly the same as in the same period of 2021”, concluded. ACAP.
