Lisbon extends until Wednesday the support plan for people who are homeless due to the cold

The Lisbon City Council (CML) announced the extension of the Cold Weather Homeless Contingency Plan until Wednesday due to the low temperatures forecast for the next few days.

In a statement, the municipality announced that the support structure that brings together various entities and that was created on January 24 for this plan, which included the existence of seven places where the Street Technical Teams direct the homeless to the Manuel Castel Branco Municipal Pavilion.

These teams are located in Rossio (entrance to the Metro station/Praça Dom Pedro IV), in Intendente (entrance to the Guimarães metro/shoe shop), in Saldanha (entrance to the Metro station next to Novo Banco), in Gare do Oriente (main entrance to this station), Santa Apolónia (main atrium of the CP station), Cais do Sodré (entrance to the river station) and Alcântara (in front of Pingo Doce, on Rua de Cascais).

The CML also indicated that the Rossio, Santa Apolónia and Oriente Metropolitano stations will remain open for the homeless population, between 11:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.

According to the statement, hot meals, food and clothing will be served in the Manuel Castel Branco Municipal Pavilion, where the Integrated Device for Attention to People in Street Situations (DIAPSSA) will operate.
