Russia is building ships with new technologies for transporting liquefied gas

Russian media reported that the country’s experts are working on a project to build new ships with unique technologies for transporting liquefied natural gas.

During the discussion of the project, experts proposed an original technology for storage and transportation of liquefied gas on new ships, based on tanks made of composite polymeric materials developed in Russia.

Experts point out that the tanks made of carbon polymers developed by the Russian company UMATEX are stronger and lighter than the conventional aluminum tanks currently used in gas tankers, and this technology in the construction of tank allows tanks to be integrated in parallel. to ships in the development stages, reducing Ship production time.

The shipbuilding project in question is included in the plan that Russia is working on to develop the Northern Sea Route until 2035, and within this scope, a fully Russian-made nuclear icebreaker is also being developed.
