Toyota attributed this development to “further optimization of production capacity in North America and Asia, a recovery following component supply shortages associated with the spread of Covid-19 the previous year, and other factors.”
Toyota vehicle production in Japan, hit by the lingering effects of semiconductor shortages, rose 0.9% to 2,786,801 units, up from 2.76 million units in fiscal 2021, when it bottomed out. in 45 years.
Toyota maintains the goal of producing about three million vehicles a year in Japan.
