Azores with yellow warnings due to heavy rains

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued yellow warnings this Sunday for the nine islands of the Azores, due to forecasts of “sometimes intense” rainfall, which may be accompanied by storms, starting at dawn.

According to IPMA, for the islands of the Central group (Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, Graciosa and Faial) the warning will be in effect between 00:00 a.m. on Monday and 06:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

In the West group (Corvo and Flores) between 6 a.m. on Monday and 3 p.m. on Tuesday. In the East group (Santa María and São Miguel), the yellow warning is valid between 06:00 on Monday and 24:00 on Tuesday.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued whenever a risk situation occurs for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
