DANA. Father searches for his three-month-old daughter and his wife missing in an “infernal current” in Seville

Antonio Tarazona, his wife Lourdes María García and their three-month-old daughter live in Paiporta, on the outskirts of Seville. Due to the intensity of the rain and the rising water level around them, they decided to escape to Seville and got into the car early on Tuesday afternoon. They didn’t make it. “The car started to float. We managed to anchor it to a sign, I tried to climb down through the window. The height of the water was five feet and a half and the force was brutal,” the 59-year-old man told El País.

The man managed to escape from the car and clung to an iron until he was saved by rescue teams. while the woman went up to the roof, along with her three-month-old daughter. Antonio Tarazona even tried to save them, but couldn’t. “The current began to drag the car down and the last thing I saw was how they were asking for help from the roof,” he laments.

El Mundo spoke with Clara Andrés, a friend of Lourdes María García. The two spoke on the phone when Antonio Tarazona’s wife was on the roof of the car. “She told me she would resist as long as she could and to please take care of her other two children,” she said, describing her friend as trying to resist a “hell current.”

Since that phone call with Clara Andrés, nothing has been known about Lourdes María García and the baby, although searches are being carried out to try to locate them. However, Antonio Tarazona. who suffered a knee injury, is not optimistic about the future: “It’s very complicated, a three-month-old baby in that scenario.”
