A new earthquake of magnitude 2.1 on the Richter scale was felt this Wednesday on the island of Terceira, in the Azores, within the framework of the current seismovolcanic crisis, reported the Seismovolcanic Information and Surveillance Center of the Azores (CIVISA). .
According to CIVISA, The crash occurred at 3:21 p.m. local time. (4:21 p.m. in Lisbon) and had its epicenter about six kilometers south of Altares.
“According to the information available so far, the earthquake was felt with maximum intensity III (modified Mercalli scale) in Santa Bárbara (municipality of Angra do Heroísmo) and Biscoitos (municipality of Praia da Vitória),” CIVISA indicated.
Another earthquake was also recorded on the island of Terceira at 00:04 (01:04 in Lisbon), with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to the IPMA, the earthquake had its epicenter near the village of Serreta, in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.
