Britney Spears announced this Saturday on Instagram that she had an abortion early in her pregnancy. The singer revealed in April that she was pregnant with her third child, months after being released from the guardianship of her father, who had decision-making power even over her daughter’s pregnancies.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that we lost our miracle baby early in our pregnancy,” Britney Spears said on behalf of herself and her fiancé, Mr. personal trainer Sam Asghari, admitting that the couple perhaps should have waited before making the announcement. “We were too excited to share the good news. Our love is our strength,” she said.
Revealing that the couple will continue to try to expand their “beautiful family,” Britney Spears thanked fans for their support and asked for privacy at this “difficult time.”
Britney Spears, 40, has two teenage sons, Sean and Jaden, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, to whom she was married from 2004 to 2007. The singer had shown a desire to expand her family, which she was not allowed to do when she was under the guardianship of the father. The guardianship was lifted last year, almost 14 years after the artist lost the power to decide her career and various aspects of her personal life.
