Fox News Channel hosts Sandra Smith, John Roberts and Bret Byer reacted to actor Matthew McConaughey’s appearance at the White House on Tuesday, criticizing how “passionate” McConaughey was.
Smith said, “Okay, you’re listening to Texas-born actor Matthew McConaughey’s Uvalde over there, meeting with the families of the victims, meeting with the president, saying that we need to make the lives lost significant. He told me we can prevent it. He wants to increase the age to buy assault rifles to 21 if you’re not in the military. He said that all gun purchases must require background checks and that red flag laws should be law of the land. It was very interesting to hear what he said there, someone from Hollywood mass in a elementary school in Texas was calling for the restoration of our family values after the shooting.
“A really enthusiastic defense and the best performance we’ve seen on this podium in a very long time, it was a part of Hollywood but very humble people at Texas Uval,” said Roberts.
Bayer said, “I think the first thing he heard about his visit to Uvalde with his wife, all these stories and all that, was a passionate request, like the people these children should be.
“You know, authenticity seems compromised, and I think there are a lot of Americans who could get a 21-year-old increase for the AR-15. I think many Americans might go beyond the four-day waiting period to make sure someone isn’t excited and has something to do. I think red flag laws raise other red flags we’ve seen elsewhere. Maybe it works. But there are compromised positions here, and I think Capitol Hill does.”
