MSNBC’s Glod: 4th of July ‘always an incredibly unpleasant holiday for me’

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe Thursday, Princeton professor Eddie Glod Jr. told. He said the upcoming 4th of July holiday “always been an incredibly unpleasant holiday for him.”

Noting that she’s from Mississippi, Glod reported that Independence Day was “framed on June Day” and was “the way we fight the legacy of slavery.”

“You know, the 4th of July has always been an incredibly unpleasant holiday for me because of the traditions I came from,” Glod said. “Juneteenth did that with how we fought the legacy of slavery. But I want to reiterate something I got from Smithsonian secretary Lonnie Bunch and I, you know, used it before, Joe, America is more of an idea. It’s more of an argument. It was a fight.
