CNN host Chris Wallace said on New Day Friday that Republicans described the FBI’s Mar-a-Lago operation as a “raid” using “Gestapo” tactics.

I think if these documents are made public, laying the groundwork for the installation of evidence that says, “Well, why doesn’t the FBI allow inspection sites where our lawyers or anyone else are,” the idea is: “Oh, we have no idea what they did, what did they do?” Chris, do you think Republicans who spoke so loudly and harshly in support of Donald Trump and said that the Justice Department was using guns against him would do that?
WALLACE: Sure. You know, there’s every sign that there will be some. I mean, look where a man attacked yesterday, if he could get in, maybe to kill FBI agents. And, you know, to quote Simon and Garfunkel, The Sound of Silence. You hear very little condemnation from people on the right. I read a newsletter. I don’t know how few high-ranking Republican officials in Cincinnati, Ohio, condemned the actions of Ricky Schiffer, who was killed by the FBI after the attack. So do I think there are some Trump supporters who will continue to follow Donald Trump no matter which path he chooses? Of course.
BERMAN: You know, Attorney General, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez has said before. Where are the Republicans? This morning, you know, no violence means wrong, what happened in Cincinnati means wrong. The silence there surprised even him.
WALLACE: So, again, we’re talking about the party that shot because it didn’t support Democrats, because it supported gays, because it didn’t support law enforcement. This is where people do their work. And you know, let’s be clear again, this is not an invasion. This is a very carefully researched search. They went to the judge. They issued a search warrant. They entered. Apparently, they notified the Secret Service at least an hour before the scheduled time. They were reportedly particularly interested in doing this without the former president in place, and they went in and did it. Usually they did it by the book. Whether they should have done this is debatable, but they did it according to the rules. And this idea was seen as some kind of colossal and this word was used literally by the FBI, the Gestapo’s tactics were out of touch with the reality of what was happening.
